With an extra long, normal Cat3/4/5/5e/5 UTP cable and pairwise use of a Long Reach PoE injector as well as a Long Reach LAN PoE extender from PLANET, a LAN connection from e.g. an IP camera to the network switch can be extended considerably. The maximum distance of the point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connection including PoE/PoE+ (802.3af/at) is max. 500m with Long Reach via UTP cable. Among other things, this also circumvents the need for additional power or network cables, which primarily facilitates installation and maintenance.
